Prom 2015

Sorry, it slipped my mind and I forgot to post last week.. So, I will make two today that will make up for this week and last week.

As all of you know last Saturday I went to prom.. I had an AMAZING time!
In the weeks leading up to prom I was really skeptical about going because I didn't want to have any embarrassing leaks, considering many times I have had ostomy leaks that have been out of control and ran down my legs when I was in a public place.

The day started off awesome and I was able to get my hair, makeup, and pictures done with only a very small leak..

When I got home, right before I went to prom, my mom changed my ostomy and my wonderful home health nurses came out to help me get ready for the night and to ensure that if I did have a leak, no one would see it.

So here is a "how to" for all of my friends that have an ostomy and follow my blog.

YOU NEED

  • A trash bag
  • Tape (tape fixes everything.. duh)
  • Zip Lock Bags (2)
  • An ab wrap (yeah, the thing you wear when you work out)
  • Two wash rags

WHAT TO DO

  1. After you put on a new ostomy, put the zip lock bag over the ostomy bag and tape it on.
  2. Rip the trash bag, make a fold at the bottom of your stomach, tape it, then pull the trash bag up and tape it. If it does leak, this will be there to catch the excess that doesn't go in the zip lock bag.
  3. Stack two wash rags in the area where it usually leaks.
  4. Place the ab wrap over the whole thing, this will help hold it in,

I danced my heart out, had a great time, with great friends, but by 10 I was tired and was ready to go home.
My best friend come home with me to stay the night and by 10:30 we were in the bed watching movies and eating oven baked pizzas.

Now, enjoy some pictures!
